Dr Juliette Drobny

Dr Juliette Drobny is a Senior Clinical Psychologist specialising in the treatment of anxiety, depression and related psychological disorders. Australian born, she completed her undergraduate and postgraduate training in Psychology and Clinical Psychology at the University of New South Wales before completing her PhD at the University of Sydney. She was previously Head of the Anxiety Treatment and Research Unit at Westmead Hospital and a Lecturer with the Discipline of Psychiatry, University of Sydney. She is currently an Adjunct Senior Lecturer with the Sydney Medical School, the University of Sydney.

For over 20 years, she has specialised in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders. She is co-author of the books The Sydney Handbook for Anxiety Disorders: A Guide to the Symptoms, Causes and Treatments of Anxiety Disorders and The Sydney Handbook for Medical Students and has developed education programs for health professionals in Anxiety and Mood Disorders, running online education courses and face to face workshops for GPs and other health professionals across the country for 10 years.

A kind, compassionate and experienced therapist, she is passionate about empowering people to achieve their goals through overcoming their fears and unhelpful behaviours. She focusses strongly on identifying self-limiting beliefs and enabling patients to confront the avoidance behaviours that maintain them.

Special Interests: Depression, OCD, Panic Attacks, Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia, Shyness and Social Phobia, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Phobias, Generalised Anxiety Disorder and Worry, Health Anxiety, Hoarding Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, Self-esteem, Assertiveness and Stress Management.

 

Age Groups:  Adults, older adults (65+) and anxiety disorders in older children and adolescents.
